Bottesford Church, also known as 'Our Lady of the Vale', is indissolubly linked with the history of nearby Belvoir Castle. It contains magnificent monuments and tombs to the Earls of Rutland dating from the 12th-19thC, many of whom were Knights of the Garter. Several of the tombs are works of art in their own right, 2 are by Grinling Gibbons. In addition, the church with a spire of 210ft (the tallest in Leicestershire) is placed in a beautiful setting by the river Devon and approached over a packhorse bridge.
