Thoresby Hall Hotel & Spa is a magnificent Grade I listed mansion on the edge of Sherwood Forest. Its architectural magnificence is simply breathtaking and its grounds a delight.
Museum of site finds with the theme of 7000 years of man on a continually used site. There are prehistoric flints, Stone, Roman, Bronze and Iron Age pottery. The restored house is open with hand-crafted gifts made here for sale; woodturning, spinning (Jacob sheep kept) and painting day courses are run with art exhibitions, working craftsmen, a picnic area, mistletoe, petrifying springs and guided walk showing the history of the site. Refreshments are available. King John spent a vast sum of money here in 1211; the site was royal up to 1604.
